Since the beginning of humanity we have been cleaning our skin with water and we have managed thus far; but this is water seen in a whole new light! What does Micellar mean?
Bioderma were the first to invent and produce a cleansing system using Micellar technology. Micellar technology means that it uses small molecules called Micelles which are tiny oil molecules suspended in water. Scientists at Bioderma found that these tiny molecules do a number of important things:
First, they are highly effective at inactivating other molecules reducing the irritancy of detergents/soaps. This makes the Micellar technology especially important for those with sensitive skin. Micelles are also exceptional at trapping additional molecules of oil which make them perfect makeup removers or cleansers for sopping up excess sebum on oily skin.
But most importantly, these little molecules, when disturbed by wiping onto the skin, break apart momentarily and then re-form around dirt/makeup/oil etc, trapping the unwanted into little spheres that are then wiped away! This makes for an outstanding cleansing system. A system that eradicates the need for water or toners when cleaning your face. Just apply the cleanser to a cotton pad and swipe away the day!

[Bioderma also makes the Micellar cleanser in a version for oily/combination skin (this however, could not be used on the eye area), and a version for redness/rosacea that inhibits rash and regulates the biological factors that cause vasodilation.]
