How your Perfume can Double as an Insect Repellent

Keep the bugs away without smelling like chemicals! I have found 5 gorgeous perfumes that not only smell like a dream but ALSO act as a natural bug repellent! Summer scents are all about being light and carefree, they are filled with all the glorious things of Summer like tropical fruits, blooming flowers, and lush notes like Coconut to remind you of the Beach!

But if you don’t want to be targeted pesky biting or stinging insects, then stay clear of fragrances with heavy florals and sugary sweetness!!!! Instead, opt for more refreshing scents with vibrant Citrus, Mint, aromatic Greens, and crisp Aqua notes that will not only keep the bugs at bay but will help you stay refreshed in the hot summer sun!

Repel Bees, Wasps, and Mosquitos

Citrus fragrances with notes of Lemon, Lemon Verbena, and Grapefruit work well at repelling stinging insects such as Bees, Wasps, and Mosquitos! Also repelling Bees/Wasps are the aromatic greens or MintEucalyptus and Rosemary. These Citrus and aromatic scents like Eucalyptus and Mint interfere with insects respiratory system making it hard for the pesky critters to breathe. Luckily for us as we welcome these refreshing scents in the Summer!

Repel biting insects

Peppermint is a major deterrent for biting insects and fleas/ticks in particular. Biting insects also hate the smell of Myrtle, Basil, and woodsy notes like Cedar or Fir. Oddly enough Mosquitos hate the smell of all these notes, but in particular, Vanilla is a major Mosquito repellent as it interferes with their ability to hone into food sources (us). Good for us humans though as we adore the sweet scent!

Here are the TOP 5 refreshing Fragrances that will help deter bugs this Summer:
