Tarte BB Tinted Treatment 12-hour Primer Review
BB creams have always mystified me. I have often been convinced that they are the world’s miracle makeup, but then have also had my suspicions that they are just a marketing tactic to get us to buy yet another beauty product. But regardless of my stance on BBs or CCs, I have to admit that this BB Tinted Primer by Tarte IS close to a miracle makeup not matter what it is called!
Originally BB stood for blemish balm and was developed by a German dermatologist, Dr. Christine Schrammek, in the 1960’s to protect her patients’ skin after surgery; basically providing cosmetic coverage while also providing beneficial skin nourishment. In the 80’s, the Asian market took this idea and turned it into an obsession, and it wasn’t until recently that the North American beauty industry started to ride the wave also, labeling it as a “beauty balm”.
Beauty balms, or blemish balms, can either be foundations, primers, or tinted moisturizers; and while providing coverage and typically including a sun-protectant, they also include various beneficial skin treatments for moisturizing, anti-aging, skin brightening, etc.
I typically find BB and CC (color correction) creams to be too moisturizing, usually leaving my skin feeling oily, coated, or greasy. And so, while I was excited that foundations now included beneficial skin treatments, I was unimpressed with how they actually applied, felt, and lasted.
That’s when I discovered Tarte. Tarte prides itself on “good-for-you-glamour” as they say. Producing quality cosmetics that are eco-friendly and use natural ingredients. They make a product called a BB Tinted Treatment 12-hour Primer that resolves ALL my BB doubts and has left me utterly impressed!
Although it’s labeled as a primer, this is more than just a primer. In fact, I have used it not only as a primer, but as a concealer, and a foundation on it’s own as it provides flawless coverage and long, comfortable wearability. It includes a sun-protectant with a broad-spectrum, chemical-free SPF 30 so you no longer need to apply a separate SPF under your makeup, or if you are like me and never did such a thing to begin with than this is an especially important feature. Not only that, but it also includes an anti-aging treatment! And if you are already at the age where lines have gracefully appeared then this primer features a special “triple-b” complex that features diamond dust, plant compounds, and lipoamino acids that diffuse light, hide fine lines, and add to skins’ luminosity (without looking shiny or shimmery).
But the best part about the Tarte BB Primer is that it’s oil-free and provides a weightless, smooth, and non-greasy finish that is virtually matte. It’s velvety texture is a dream for oily or combination skin, which is a rare thing to find in a BB cream. Plus, it’s 12-hour staying power also makes this BB cream a one-of-a-kind!
Furthermore, this product comes in four wearable and natural shades, where most BB creams come in two, leaving the hopeless decision between light or dark. Instead, the four shades of the Tarte BB Primer are easily blendable and seem to melt into the skin making a perfect match with any skin tone.
This multi-tasking BB cream does it all! It covers flawlessly leaving a natural matte finish that hides imperfections, fine lines, and erases pores. It protects the skin while providing much needed nutrients ALL while being a natural product that is not only kind to your skin but kind to the environment. This is the best BB cream that I have ever tried. And is highly recommended especially for those with oily/combination skin.
