Givenchy Ange Ou Demon Review
Ange ou Demon by Givenchy is an Oriental Floral that plays upon the idea of angelic innocence juxtaposed against dark mystery. It’s an interesting idea, however, to my nose I can’t seem to distinguish between the angel and the demon! In fact, the whole fragrance seems a bit too much on the innocent side. And I would even go so far as to re-classify it as a Gourmand scent (sweet and edible) versus an Oriental Floral.
Nonetheless, this angelic accord is deep and rich. It does this by using Gourmand notes such as Vanilla, Tonka Bean, and Saffron; which make the fragrance both sweet and soft. Rounding out the sweetness are warm and earthy notes of Rosewood, and Oak Moss; which are supposed to elicit that mysterious dark side but instead almost enhance the Gourmand notes smoothing out the scent even more. This combination of notes lends itself to a warm, sweet, and soft perfume smelling mostly of sweet Vanilla, warm Tonka Bean, and smooth leathery Saffron.
The only notes that would appear to sparkle in this scent are the supposed Orchid, Lily, Thyme and Mandarin notes, but they are buried under such heavy sweetness that it is hard to smell them at all. Which is such a shame because this fragrance verges on the sickingly sweet side and I would have welcomed something to add a zest or freshness. But for those who have a sweet tooth and who love Gourmand scents, this one is a keeper even though it’s bound to leave you with a tooth ache!

Summary: Ange Ou Demon is supposed to play on light and dark, innocent and devilish, but I found it hard to find ANY dark and naughty aspects of this scent. Instead, it's pure sweetness in a bottle! Very sweet, smooth, and almost tasty being heavy on the Vanilla and Tonka Bean.
